Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Human Trafficker, Rescue Three Victims

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Peter Anyebe, for alleged human trafficking and rescued three young women at the Benue Motor Park in Iyana-Ipaja.
According to sources, the arrest was made on 20 June 2026 at about 0200hrs following credible intelligence received earlier at about 0100hrs that a young man was seen with three female passengers suspected to be victims of trafficking.
Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the suspect was arrested and the victims rescued unharmed. The victims were identified as John Enenu, 19; Loveth Solomon, 21; and Faith Sunday, 21.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly accompanied the victims from Ugbokpo Community in Benue State to Lagos with the intent of handing them over to another agent in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, who would reportedly facilitate their onward movement to Ghana.
The Command added that the suspect is currently in custody while efforts are ongoing to trace and reunite the victims with their families.
It said investigation into the case is ongoing.
