Maluri Youth Development Association (MYDA) in Fika local government area of Yobe state has flag-off the construction of a 22.5 kilometre road from Fika to Maluri.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of MYDA Abuja chapter, Alhaji Ayuba Adam Maluri said it could be recalled that on the 8th January, 2022, the association launched fundraising for the construction of Fika to Maluri road.
He said, the launching of the fundraising has become imperative as a result of the hardship which the people of Maluri and its environs are facing because of the bad condition of the road.

Ayuba Adam Maluri revealed that, during the rainy season pregnant women and old people lost their lives because before you took them to Fika General Hospital for treatment it will take you more than seven hours because there is no health center in the whole of Fika east.
“Because of this, we launched the appeal fund at Maluri town on 8th January, 2022, as the people showed their concerns over the bad condition of the road, people sacrificed their food stuff and donated to the fundraising and over #4 million was realized.
” These four million naira we get, today 19th February, 2022, we saw that is better to flag-off this project to do what we can able to do and next time if God give us the wisdom we will continue with the work, because we would not allow the project to stop.” Ayuba said.
He said the benefits of the road to us as I mentioned earlier even for the safety of our lives, we don’t have a qualitative health center and if a person is sick we have to take him to general hospital Fika so we have been losing lives as a result of lack of the road.
He maintained that about 2,600 people attended the flag-off ceremony and 42 vehicles from 22 towns attended the occasion because of the importance of the project.
Also speaking, the national chairman of MYDA, Alhaji Isa Mai Lafiya said we are going to start with the #4 million we have at hand and thank the people who contributed generously to the appeal fund for the construction of the road.
He said our fathers died with this road in their mind and this work is not our own, it is for the government and what we are expecting from the government is more than this. He appeals to the Yobe state government to come to their aid by construction of Fika to Maluri road.
