A 35-year-old man, Mohammed Ali, has been killed while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a machete attack in Geidam Local Government Area.

Sources said the incident occurred at about 3 a.m. on Sunday when an unidentified attacker invaded Ali’s residence at Ta’alawa Hausari Ward, Geidam, armed with a cutlass and knife.

“The suspect macheted Mohammed Ali in the stomach, and also inflicted injuries on his wife, Mamar Amira, 23; his son, Amir Mohammed, 7; and his neighbour, Mustapha A. Adam, 38.

“Angry residents overpowered the assailant and inflicted head injuries on him before the arrival of the police.

“All the victims, including the suspect, were rushed to Specialist Hospital Geidam where Ali and the suspect were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

“The corpses were released to their relatives for burial after autopsy,”said the sources.

The sources added that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) had been directed to take over the case for further investigation.
