MEWAR International University (MIU) is situated at Kilometre 21 along the Keffi-Abuja Expressway around Kuchikau, Masaka district Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state. MEWAR is a registered and licenced by the appropriate agency and equally accredited to run degree programmes in three faculties being a new university that commences academic activities recently.
Findings by NEWSng revealed that MEWAR University has 265 students studying in various departments at present. Thus is having fulfilled the necessary admission requirements needed by the university. Interestingly, MEWAR International University (MIU) has good scholarship schemes for its students. There are three standing scholarship windows open for students. According to Professor (Dr) Mahtab Itham, Dean of Academics said that “we have the Entrance Examination Scholarship (EES) meant for our best students. This carries 100% full package.
“Others are Institutional Scholarship are Kwankwasiya Scholarship runs by Kwankwasiya Development Foundation (KDF). Mallam Muhammad Mustapha the Admission Officer of the university said that the two are offer to intelligent and brilliant indigent students cut across the country “is on the basis of two from each state including the FCT” he stressed.
Further investigation by Newsng.ng shows that Mewar International University (MIU) has guided admission requirements. Mustapha said apart from the standard requirements of five credits including Mathematics and English “we considered and required you have First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), Testimonial and Birth Certificate before you can be our bona fide student” he emphasized.
Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor (Dr) Muhammad Israr while speaking on the challenges faced by this new educational institution told NEWSng that “Our biggest challenge is inadequate supply of electricity to the university to effectively run our facilities and educational teaching aids. We are powering the university with generators that consume large quantities of diesel, amounting to hundreds of thousands of naira”. The VC went further and said “however, we are making arrangements with Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for 15 hours uninterrupted supply”.
MEWAR International University has come to say considering the calibre of her academic staff, hostel accommodation, and sport facilities, proper secured and conducive environment for teaching and learning including affordable tuition fees. These are things that are attracting parents and prospective students to MEWAR International University (MIU).
