MNJTF: 19 ISWAP insurgents, family members surrendered to troops

A total of 19 suspected Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) fighters and their families, comprising 4 men, 5 women, and 10 children, who escaped from the terrorist hideouts, surrendered to the troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) on Friday, November 3, 2023.

It was gathered that the militants surrendered to the troops of 242 Battalion at Charlie 6 checkpoint located along Monguno-Maiduguri in Monguno town.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that during preliminary investigation, the surrendered terrorists revealed that they escaped from the TUMBUN MUSARRAM and TUMBUN SHUWARAM general areas in the Lake Chad Islands in Kukawa LGA.

The sources said that the items found in their possession include 7 blankets, 4 mobile phones, a mosquito net, some personal clothing, and the sum of three hundred and ninety-nine thousand, five hundred naira (N399,500.00) only.

The surrendered terrorists are in the custody of Sect. 3 MIB for profiling and investigation.
