NAFOWA doles out food, and medical items to wounded soldiers, orphans

The Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) in conjunction with the Airmen Wives Association (AWA) 105 Air Force Composite Group has urged Nigerians to show some love to wounded soldiers fighting an insurgency that it would aid their recuperate process.

NAFOWA President, Arc Rukyat Abubakar represented by Borno State Coordinator, Mrs Esther Olayera led the delegation to visit wounded soldiers at 7 Division Nigeria Army Hospital in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

She noted the peace enjoyed in the country was proof of the unwavering efforts of the Armed Forces.

Mrs Esther stressed that the soldiers have been very great in fighting against all forms of criminality and sacrificed a lot to defend the sovereignty of Nigeria, saying they deserve more love from well-meaning and cooperative organizations.

“We are to see you and pray for you in the shortest time you would be on your feet and go back to your various units. We are showing solidarity with you, and we hope that our little features will bring happiness to you.

“We appreciate your sacrifice and we can’t thank you enough for your efforts to protect this state, regions and the nation at large.

After doling out gifts to the smiled wounded, she said, “We love you, please accept these little gifts,”

While continuing, “We need to show our soldiers love and you can see how happy they were when we introduce ourselves to them. This will surely hasten their healing process and help their psychology,”

Mrs Esther and her teams also visited Fatimah Modu Sheriff Orphanage Home where they donated food and non-food items to support the orphans and promised to do more for the needy and vulnerable.

“I was emotional seeing those innocent children abandoned by their mothers, so it touched me, it is pathetic.

“I urge Nigeria to show love to this kind of people, especially those in the hospital and children at orphanages.”She said.

The delegation was received by Commander Medical Services 7 Division of NA, Lt Col. AA. Ogunsakin who thanked the NAFOWA leadership for their gestures, saying singular acts showed that they are efforts were not forgotten.

“It is a laudable gesture and it is a solid message to us that we are not left alone, and it shows that people think about the wounded soldiers and appreciate their sacrifices to the nation. This gesture will go a long way and its wit encourages them and boasts their morals.”Lt Col Ogunsakin thanked.

Also, the Director of Special Planning Ministry of Woman Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Shettima appreciated the support and prayed God’s response who contributed to providing while assuring that the items would be used according to the purpose meant for.
