NEDC Donates 500kva Generator to UMTH

The Minister for humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Umar Farouk through the Northeast Development Commission NEDC has donated a 500Kva generator of Marapco brand  to the University of Maiduguri teaching hospital today 

The 500Kva is capable of electrifying the newly established burn center and entire medical units of the giant hospital. 

The Managing director NEDC  Alhaji Muhammad Goni Alkali, the representative of the minister and other members of the NEDC were glady received  by the Chief medical director University  of Maiduguri Teaching hospital Professor Ahmadu Ahijo, saying that the visit received today is to fulfil the promise made by the Minister of supplying the hospital with a generator set and 10,000 litres of diesel to run it smoothly.

Prof. Ahijo says  that the hospital has been facing challenges with the supply of diesel in it’s 100Kva generator set, causing issues with aspects in the hospital such as the ICU, maternity wards, oxygen plant, and operation room.

The representative of the minister for Humanitarian Affairs Group Captain Sadiq Shehu  said that  he will be glad to report back to the minister that the promise had been gladly fulfilled.

Further responding after officially  taken over the donated item the Chief Medical Director University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital thanked Northeast Development Commission for supporting the hospital, he noted that this is not the first time that the commission came rescue the hospital making reference to the donations made by the commission during the Covid 19 pandemic, not only to UMTH but also to other northeast health centres. 

He said UMTH remains ever grateful and their cordial relationship with Northeast development commission will continue.

He charged the representative of the minister to extend their immense appreciation to the minister for this support, adding that the generator set will last long in the service of humanity.
