Nigeria: Again, Airstrikes kills scores of ISWAP in Marte

Again, the Nigerian military has successfully neutralized numerous fighters in carefully coordinated airstrikes near Lake Chad in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

The airstrikes took place on Sunday June 18, 2023, and targeted the river banks of Kwalaram, Bukar Mairam, Abbaganaram and Yarwa Kura in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.

These decisive victories were achieved through weeks of meticulous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified the locations of the terrorists

Sources said, following the airstrikes by the troops of the Air Component, ground assessments indicated that the troops naturalized scores of the fighters and destroyed makeshift tents used by the terrorists as safe havens.

“This successful offensive is part of OPERATION WARUN 3, an ongoing campaign aimed at eradicating Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists from the North East,” An informed source said.

According to him, the Nigerian Airforce has continued to play a crucial role in the fight against insurgency in the North East, with the airstrikes being a testament to their dedication and efficiency.

“The Nigerian military’s ongoing efforts to dismantle ISWAP and restore peace in the region have been met with praise and support from the international community.

“As the OPERATION WARUN 3 campaign continues, the Nigerian military remains committed to securing the nation and protecting its citizens from the ongoing threat of terrorism.

“The successful airstrikes near Lake Chad demonstrate the military’s resolve and capabilities, reinforcing their position as a formidable force against terrorist organizations,”said the competent source.
