Armed terrorists suspected to be members of Boko Haram invaded the Jakana Police station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday, killing a police driver and a woman friend.

The terrorists’ also set ablaze two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and a motorcycle, even as some arms and ammunition were carted away by the rampaging insurgents.

Jakana is about 45 kilometers away from Maiduguri, located along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway.

Sources confirmed to NEWSng in Maiduguri that the terrorists stormed the police station at about 1 a.m., where they engaged the security agencies for about three hours, overwhelmed them, and fled at about 3 a.m.

The Executive Chairman of Konduga Council Area, Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the incident in a telephone call with our correspondent, but insisted that he did not have details of casualties at press time.

He said, “Yes, I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Jakana Police Station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details, I will furnish you.” The chairman said:.
