Nigeria: ISWAP terrorists target motorists on Bama-Banki Road.

ISWAP terrorists have launched a brazen attack on motorists who were traveling along the Bama-Banki road, an important route in northeastern Nigeria, not far from Darajamal in the Bama Local Government Area.

Travelers said the terrorists are in large numbers and equipped with sophisticated weapons.

During this assault, the assailants successfully intercepted and seized two vehicles that were loaded with essential food items.

The attackers then swiftly retreated into the dense cover of the nearby bush, making it challenging for any immediate pursuit. The fate and well-being of the two drivers involved remain uncertain at this time.

One of the victims who escaped that attack said the appearance of the terrorists was dreadful.

“I am still in shock that these elements can still have the audacity to attack as such, despite reports that they have been degraded.” He said.

This confirmed the fears of the North East governor when he called on the Nigerian military to take action against the terrorists known locations within the Northeast region.

Also in response to the concern of the Northeast governor’s regarding the resurgence of Boko Haram, the Nigerian Air Force in a statement by NAF, signed by its spokesperson, Air Commodore, Edward Gabkwet on Tuesday, recalled that Suwa was a stronghold of Boko Haram terrorists in the Gezuwa general area near Sambisa Forest.

The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai disclosed that it conducted an airstrike in the area dislodging “remnants of terrorists” and clearing the region of other criminals in the early morning of Monday.

“Recent intelligence, however, revealed the massing up of terrorists within the area with likely plans to attack troops on patrol along major routes to Bama and Mafa LGA.

“Further intelligence also revealed that the same group of terrorists had perfected plans to attack troops stationed around Rann in Kalabalge LGA,” NAF said.
