Nigeria: Troops neutralize Biafra National Guard in Abia

A Biafran National Guard member on Friday met his Waterloo when he attempted to engage the Nigerian Military in a fire fight in Abia state southeast Nigeria.

The group had said that they are going to declare a sovereign nation were seen in videos making all sorts of statements as regard their readiness to face the Nigerian troops ahead of October 30, 2021, a date they set for the declaration of Biafra.

However, while troops conducting Exercise Golden Dawn in the South East were making efforts to defend the integrity of the Nigerian states, one of the Biafran National Guard gunmen attacked troops’ location at Amaekpu, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, and southeast Nigeria.

But was neutralized in the process according to the Army Headquarters in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.

General Nwachukwu said the assailants, who were heavily armed and conveyed in several vehicles, opened fire on the troops’ location, but were met with stiff resistance by the troops.

“The troops neutralised one gunman, while others abandoned their vehicles and retreated in disarray with gunshot wounds.”General Nwachukwu said

According to him, the troops also recovered a pump action gun, among others items the fleeing Bisfran National Guards abandoned while fleeing the troops onslaught.

“While the criminals withdrew, having been overwhelmed, they were promptly intercepted at Eda by troops of Forward Operating Base Ohaozara in Ebonyi State.

“The troops recovered additional three vehicles and apprehended one of the gunmen,” the statement added
