The Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded further gains in the ongoing air interdiction operations designed to deter Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists within the fringes of Lake Chad.

This occurred as the ATF, on December 16, conducted air strikes on ISWAP camps at Bukar Mairam in Marte Local Government Area in Borno State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the air strikes at Bukar Mairam were planned and executed based on intelligence reports indicating that the insurgents had established a training camp in the village and were converging in an area prior to departing for an attack on their own troop locations around the Lake Chad area.

The sources said the fighter aircraft acquired and attacked the locations, neutralizing scores of the ISWAP, with only a few survivors seen fleeing the area.

The sources said some of their logistics and other properties were destroyed.
