Northwest killings: 2 Ex-governors, 15 Emirs and 10 Military Officers Allegedly Indicted in Zamfara

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mattawalle has said that he would not be diverted by any sentiment to not implement recommendations on the ongoing conflicts and indictment of high profile individuals sponsoring and supporting activities of bandits in the state and the Northwest killings.

Following the closure of the state and shutting down of the network to allow the Nigerian military to perform Operations to weed out the criminal elements from the state, reports coming out from the state says two former governors were indicated along aside fifteen Emirs and ten military officers on the killings in Northwest Nigeria.

Although it was not clear yet on their identity, the new revelation has further explained why the activities of bandits and abduction continued in the northwest unabated as well as the possible sponsors and supporters of these crimes.

“The Northwest Killings has taken long. One wondered why these bad elements cannot be defeated. Soldiers are dying, villages are being sacked and hundreds are being abducted with no one coming to their rescue. These bad elements go to the market hanging around with their guns with no one not even the local security officers can report them. The actions taken by the governor are yielding results and he should continue to ensure they are all exposed.” A source close to the government of Zamfara state said..

Nigerians who took to their facebook have called on governor Matawalle to be steadfast and also revealed the identity of the former governors and Emirs involved in these heinous acts and what they stand to achieve.

They also called on the international community to ensure that the revelation about to happen particularly with the mentioning of two ex-governors was not kept secret from the public.

“This is the time that the Buhari administration needs to show Nigerians that all these criminalities happening are not being done or fuelled with the support of the government. This is the time for punishment for all those who are found wanting.” Liman Hassan had commented.
