NSCDC, FCT Police Command Collaborate to Combat Crime

By: Michael Mike

The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and its Police counterpart have renewed their commitment to collaborate effectively in ridding the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja of crime.

This decision is the fallout of a courtesy visit by the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Haruna Garba at the FCT Police Command headquarters in Garki, Abuja.

Odumosu, said the visit was necessitated by the need to solidify existing relationship between the two agencies, and called for more peaceful coexistence and synergy especially amongst the junior cadres.

He said: “My visit to your office is to create an opportunity for our officers to interact for better and well coordinated interaction on the field.

“You have shown me warm acceptance, and since i assumed office, the cooperation i have enjoyed from you is admirable, and i wish to thank you for that.

“However, i want to appeal that we use our good offices to educate our officers and men on the need for this kind of synergy amongst them.

“The same way we enjoy cordial and harmonious relationship at our level, let us ensure that same exist at the lower levels for ease of operation because they are constantly meeting on the field.

The Corps helmsman in the FCT further emphasised the need for cordial relationship among security agencies, promotion of national security interests as it paves the way for good interaction and credible intelligence sharing.

He reiterated that effort towards combating crime and criminality in the FCT and its environ would yield more positive results if all hands are on deck to promote public safety, security of lives and protection of public infrastructure in the Capital Territory.

Responding, Haruna Garba, affirmed his unwavering commitment towards promoting and sustaining a harmonious working relationship between both services.

He re-echoed the need for inter agency cooperation and condemned unhealthy rivalry, stating that the era of one agency claiming dominance or superiority over another is over and it should not be encouraged in the face of security challenges on ground to tackle.

“To tackle the security challenges of the nation; we have to cooperate just like two hands washing each other for better cleaning of the hands.

“No institution or agency is superior to the other, we are one and the same and must work together to achieve the same goal,” he said.

He appreciated the Corps Commandant for the visit and assured him of very good synergy to secure the FCT and its environs.

Military airstrikes eliminate scores of ISWAP terrorists in Borno operations

By: Zagazola Makama

Precision air interdiction missions conducted by the Nigerian Air Force component of Operation HADIN KAI have eliminated scores of ISWAP terrorists in separate coordinated strikes at Kangarwa and Ali Jilamari areas of the Northern Tumbuns in Borno State.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that the operations were executed on April 1, following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The source said the first strike was carried out at about 12:05 p.m. on ISWAP enclaves in Kangarwa, a known terrorist stronghold, after ISR conducted on March 27 confirmed mass movement of fighters within the location.

According to him, airborne surveillance identified multiple terrorists operating around and inside structures within the enclave before precision munitions were delivered in successive attack passes.

He said the targeted structures were completely destroyed, with scores terrorists neutralised in the strike, while others scampered for safety in different direction.

In a separate operation at about 4:45 p.m. the same day, the air component conducted another interdiction mission at Ali Jilamari, described as a newly established terrorist hideout in the Northern Tumbuns.

The source said the mission followed credible human intelligence and ISR confirmation, which revealed active terrorist logistics hubs and structures within the area.

He added that the air platforms engaged the targets with precision strikes, destroying identified structures and logistics hubs while eliminating additional terrorists.

The source described the operations as part of sustained air offensives aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and denying them freedom of movement in the Lake Chad Basin.
