NSCDC, Others Assure New Interior Minister On Safegurding Of Internal Security

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Dr.Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni,OFR. has assured the new minister of interior Honourable Olubunmi Tunji -Ojo of the readiness and unalloyed commitment and cooperation of the NSCDC and other agencies in the ministry of interior to the continued safeguarding Of the internal security of lives and property of over 200 million Nigerian populace.

According to the national PRO of the Corps Afolabi Babawale, the CG restated the commitment on Monday during the maiden meeting of the new minister with the service chiefs and other key stakeholders of the ministry of interior.

” I want to assure you that we are all ready to work with you and deliever the dividend of democracy to Nigerians in line with President Bola Tinubu’s renew hope agenda and also sustain our continued effort to safeguard the internal security of the country” the CG assured.

Earlier in his address, Honourable Tunji-Ojo who was two times member of the national assembly representing Akoko North East and Akoko North West federal constituency in the green chamber tasked the agencies under his ministry and the service chiefs to let trust, cooperation and patriotism be their guide in their quest to form a synergy adding that he was ready to lead from the front.

” Our ministry is arguably one of the important and very strategic ministry in the country as we are concerned with the internal security, issue of identification among others and our action and inaction affect lives of over 200 million people, and a single moment of blinking of an eye can cause this country dearly”. The minister declared.

Honourable Tunji Ojo thereby called for the unalloyed coooperation of the NSCDC and other agencies tasking them to engage him intellectually in their collective bid to bring a desired change and achieve desirable results in the long run.

Troops raid IPOB enclave in Enugu, destroy camp, recover explosives

Joint troops under Operation UDO KA have conducted an offensive operation on a suspected IPOB enclave in Ajali Forest, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 4:30 a.m. on April 27 by troops of 82 Division Garrison in conjunction with 103 Battalion (Reinforced) and 197 Special Forces Battalion, acting on credible intelligence.

The sources disclosed that the troops made contact with the armed elements during the operation and engaged them in a firefight, forcing the suspects to flee into the forest.

According to the sources, troops subsequently exploited the area and destroyed all active structures within the camp, including a shrine.

Items recovered from the location include three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three cartridges, seven victim-operated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and one locally made hand grenade.

The sources added that no further contact was made during the exploitation phase, while troops have maintained presence in the area to prevent reoccupation by the fleeing suspects.

Troops foil kidnap attempt, rescue victim in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a civilian in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 26 at about 3:00 a.m., when troops on night patrol at Sanga responded to reports of sporadic gunshots along Ungwan Mohammadu village road.

The sources said the troops swiftly moved to the scene and made contact with suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a firefight that forced the criminals to flee.

According to the sources, one civilian who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident was rescued by the troops.

The victim was immediately evacuated to Confidence Hospital in Fadan Karshi for medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.

The sources added that troops have intensified patrols and are conducting follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.

Troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have rescued a kidnapped victim following a swift response to a suspected terrorist attack in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security sources disclosed that the troops, deployed at Abaji, acted on a report at about 1:45 p.m. on April 21 regarding an attack at Tumataa community.

On arrival, the troops engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee the scene.

The victim was successfully rescued and has since been reunited with family members.

The sources added that troops are sustaining operations in the area to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.
