A violent communal clash between Etisheshi and Takowangua communities in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State has left one person dead and four others injured, following a dispute over land ownership.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the conflict erupted around 7:45 a.m. on March 7, 2025, when tensions escalated between the two communities over claims to a piece of land.

During the violence, four individuals from Takowangua Village sustained injuries, including one Sani Mohammed, 35, who suffered severe wounds.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Bida, but succumbed to his injuries on the way. His remains have been deposited at the Mokwa General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, swiftly intervened to prevent further escalation. Security operatives have since taken full control of the area to restore peace and maintain law and order.

The sources said that the authorities have urged both communities to remain calm and warned against any retaliatory attacks.
