Over 500 km of roads were constructed in 5 years, YOSG

Yobe state government has said that over 500 kilometers of roads were constructed in the last five years by the present administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON.
Governor Mai Mala Buni disclosed this in a press briefing in Damaturu to commend his five years in office. He said the government would complete the rehabilitation of the Katarko-Goniri and Siminti-Godowoli roads. Rehabilitation work is ongoing along the Geidam-Bukarti, Bayamari-Yunusari, and Yunusari-Kunamma roads.
Governor Buni further said the government is undertaking new intercommunity road construction projects on the Damaturu-Kalallawa 25.5-kilometer dual carriageway for easier access to the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport and has completed the dualization of the Abattoir Junction new bye-pass roundabout along Potiskum Road for smooth movement of a high number of vehicles.
He added that, under our mass housing policy, 2,350 houses across the 17 local government areas have been constructed, and the estate has been provided with basic facilities. The houses of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom types were offered to civil servants and other members of the public across the state on an owner-occupied basis with a fifty percent discount.
Under the period under review, the education sector was worst hit during the period of insurgency; therefore, over 4,000 teaching and non-teaching staff were recruited and posted to various primary and secondary schools, and 26,000 teachers were trained or retrained to enhance their capacities.
On health care delivery, Governor Buni said the government is providing one functional primary health care center in each of the 178 electoral wards of the state. So far, 140 have been completed and commissioned.
He revealed that the government also procured and launched 88 customized tricycle ambulances, which were distributed to remote areas to ease the movement of patients to the health centers.
Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (YSCHMA) was established, and over 300,000 people, including civil servants and other members of the general public, have enrolled in the scheme. In addition, Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumable Management Agency (YODMA) was also established with a total drug budget of over $2.3 billion to address the drug and medical supply system needs of the state.
On security, Governor Mai Mala Buni said that when we took over the mentle of leadership on May 29, 2019, there were many communities that remained inaccessible due to the threat posed by the insurgents in Gujba and Gulani local government areas.
“With our commitment backed by the Federal Government, the gallantry of the security operatives, the complementary efforts of the vigilante groups, and the persistent prayers of our people, normalcy has returned to the insurgency.
