PDP Primary By-election: Dr Balami emerges as Candidate for Askira-Uba/Hawul federal Constituency

Dr. Midala Usman Balami has emerged as Candidate on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for the position of House of Representatives in Askira- Uba/Hawul federal Constituency following a peaceful primary by -election.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Maiduguri on Tuesday 30th August 2022 ordered for fresh elections to be conducted for the election of candidate for House of Representative for Askira- Uba/ Hawul Federal Constituency of Borno State for 2023 General Elections.

Justice Jude Dagat, presiding judge ordered that fresh elections be held within 14 days time so that a candidate could be saught for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the earlier elections had been nullified for lack of adhering to the Electoral Act and the PDP Constitutions.

Mr Amos Adziba, the PDP’s spokesman in his message of congratulations after the exercise, said “Midala has the capacity to rescue Askira/Hawul Federal constituency from misrepresentation.

“Midala polled 70 votes to emerge winner in the by-election of Askira/Hawul federal constituency which took place last week end in the Constituency. 

“Because of Midala’s popularity, he defeated his closest rival, Dr Emmanuel U.Bassi, who polled 5 votes.” Adziba said.

The PDP according to its spokesman also congratulated other aspirants for their doggedness and maturity before and during the exercise.

“We ran this race like brothers and had agreed from the onset that the challenge before our constituency, which our party must solve, is the challenge to rescue and to restore our State and constituency. We also agreed that the victory of the winner at the  Primaries will be a victory for all.

The party’s spokesman who is also the Forum Secretary Of 36 States Publicity Secretaries Including Abuja called on all Sons and daughters of Borno State to support all PDP candidates. 

“I urge all our party members and Nigerians to rally support for our presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon Mohammed Ali Jajari as governor,  Distinguish  Kudla Milinda as senator and all house of representatives / assembly candidates come 2023.” He stated.
