Police arrest herder with firearm in Yobe

The Police Command in Yobe has arrested a 24-year-old herder for unlawful possession of a firearm in Dusuwa village, Kallalawa area of the state.

Sources said the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Alh. Ahmadu of a hamlet in Dusuwa, was apprehended on Sept. 22 after allegedly threatening a farmer with a locally made short gun while grazing animals on a farmland.

According to sources, operatives recovered a locally made pistol and two live AA cartridges from the suspect.

The sources said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
