He said the arrest followed the outcry over rising “one-chance” attacks in the FCT and the directive of the Commissioner of Police to flush out syndicates# operating within the territory.

According to him, operatives of the Scorpion Squad stormed Buhari Street, Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Aug. 26, 2025, in a sting operation coordinated by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, which led to the arrest of three suspects.

The suspects were identified as Abdulazeez Mohammed a.k.a. Arab Money, 37, an ex-convict from Danbatta LGA of Kano State; Muktar Umar, 25, from Shanono LGA, Kano State; and Bello Aminu, 30, from Keffi LGA of Nasarawa State.

“Notably, the kingpin, Abdulazeez Mohammed, was released from Kuje prison only three months ago after serving a sentence for armed robbery and impersonating a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operative,” he said.

The sources said that on Aug. 23, the suspects picked up three victims – a corps member, Miss Gladys Essein, Miss Rejoice Mshlia and Miss Ella Ibrahim – who were on their way to a birthday party at Wuye, Abuja.

He explained that after the victims entered the suspects’ operational black Honda Crosstour, they were threatened with knives and scissors, slapped, and forced to unlock their phones.

“The suspects transferred ₦70,700 from Miss Gladys’s account and dispossessed the victims of two iPhone 11 Pro Max devices, a Redmi phone, a wristwatch, a handbag and a wedding ring.

“They also asked disturbing questions, including who among the victims had given birth, claiming their ‘boss’ needed someone for a money ritual,” he added.

He said the suspects pushed the victims into a drainage near the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, after the robbery.

He added that the stolen iPhones had been recovered and returned to the victims, while the suspects also confessed to luring women to hotels, spiking their drinks, sexually assaulting them and robbing them of valuables.

The sources said the Honda Crosstour vehicle and scissors used in the operation were also recovered, while investigation was ongoing.
