Police confirm explosion rocks Kabba in Kogi

The Police Command in Kogi on Sunday confirmed another yet to be ascertained explosion in Kabba Town of Kabbah-Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye-Aya who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lokoja, said there was no casualty.

The police spokesperson explained that the explosion happened at one Omofemi Bar at Okepadi Quarters, Kabba, around 9.15pm of Sunday.

“As it is now, there is no casualty, but only chairs and tables and the building is affected by the yet to be determined nature of explosion.

“Already the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Egbuka, has directed our DC Investigations and the Bomb detective Squad to move to the scene to ascertain the very nature of the explosion.

“The police is on top of the situation as our officers and men drafted to the area have cordoned the place until investigation reveals the real cause of the explosion.

“It’s very unfortunate that criminal elements are out to disrupt the prevailing peace we are enjoying in Kogi.

“We shall not rest untill we bring to book such elements and let them see the need for maintenance of peace in our society,” he warned.

Ovye-Aya called on the people of Okepadi and Kabba to be calm and go about their normal duties without any fear as the police were on top of the situation.

NAN reports that the first explosion which generated controversies as to whether it was a bomb or Gas cylinder, occured on May 11 at a beer parlour around Lewu Junction in Kabba Town.

While lives were lost out of the 16 persons affected, this time around, no person was affected beside property.

Man kills rival over alleged affair with wife in Adamawa

The Police in Adamawa have launched a manhunt for a suspect alleged to have killed a villager over a dispute involving his wife in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said the incident occurred in Wuro Bakumbo village, where one Hamman Shomo allegedly attacked Hammadu Shagari with a knife following a quarrel.

It said the quarrel, which took place on Sunday, stemmed from Shomo’s suspicion that Shagari was having an affair with his wife, identified as 20-year-old Rabi Alim.

According to sources, Shagari initially escaped into the bush after the attack, but his lifeless body was discovered the next day, (Monday) lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on his back.

The sources said the scene was visited by police, documented, and the corpse evacuated to General Hospital, Numan, for autopsy.

The sources said that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, while the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had been detailed to carry out discreet investigation.

Gunmen kill vigilante, abduct man, wife and child in katsina

Armed men have killed a vigilante and abducted three members of a family in Katsina metropolis, the Police Command has confirmed.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at Filin Canada Quarters, behind Steel Rolling Mill.

The sources explained that the assailants broke into the residence of one Anas Ahmadu, and abducted him, his wife Halimatu, and their daughter, Jidda.

According to the sources, a vigilante member attached to the area, Abdullahi Muhammad, 25, was shot by the attackers while attempting to resist the abduction.

He was rushed to the General Hospital, Katsina, where he was confirmed dead.

Security operatives have been directed to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators, rescue the victims and restore normalcy in the area.

Security forces rescue four kidnapped victims in Malali Village, Kankara, katsina

A combined team of security personnel have rescued four kidnapped victims during a patrol in Malali Village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, carried out on Monday by the troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police, members of the C-Watch and local hunters, intercepted suspected bandits who were holding the victims.

The troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to retreat into the bush, and successfully rescued the victims.

The rescued persons were identified as Hajiya Rabi Musa, 45, Fatima Abdullahi, 18, Shamsu Nuhu, 19, and Saminu Isah, 16, all from Malumfashi and Kankara LGAs.

Sources said the victims were taken to the General Hospital, Kankara, for medical attention, after which they would be reunited with their families.
