Police encourage, motivate Officers, As IGP Alkali Visits celebrated ACP Dauda Buba Fika in Yobe

As part of his policy to encourage and motivate officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force particularly those officers that are dedicating their lives in current efforts to contain the increasing level of insecurity in the country, IGP Usman Baba Alkali has made it a priority to appreciate officers and men particularly those that performed gallantly while protecting lives and properties of Nigerians. 

It will be recalled that the IGP has recently vigorously pursued the approval of death benefits and other critical allowances of officers and men of the Force as well as the approval of upward review of salaries of Police personnel. This development has been unprecedented in the history of the Nigeria Police Force. 

A statement made available to newsmen said “The IGP in his wisdom has identified the pathetic case of a celebrated gallant officer, ACP Dauda Fika whose bravery, excellent and professional conduct has helped in dislodging the onslaught of Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State between 2015, 2016 and 2017 when he was shot by an Army officer.

“The sad incident that could be recalled was widely reported by the Nigerian media. ACP Dauda Fika who was then the head of the MOPOL Unit in Yobe State was evacuated on emergency to a private hospital in Abuja where his case was mismanaged and as a result of a failed surgery he got permanently blind and since then he remained incapacitated with spinal cord complications.

“IGP Alkali visited the officer today, Monday, 20th December, 2021 with all his management team to reassure the injured officer that the Police Force under his watch did not forget him and all other officers that sacrificed their lives for the nation to live in peace and security.

“This is the first of such visits by a Police IGP to an officer. Such visits where necessary and recognition to deserving officers and men will not be the last as the IGP has made it a policy and a priority”.
