Police foil kidnap attempt, rescue five victims in Benue

The Police Command in Benue has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued five victims along the Ugbokpo–Agatu road in Apa Local Government Area of the state.
Police sources said the incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on March 13 when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Apa was conducting visibility policing and confidence-building patrol along the Ugbokpo–Agatu road.
According to the sources, on reaching Ojantelle community, the patrol team encountered suspected kidnappers who had earlier hijacked a Sharon vehicle with registration number EGB 407 YS.
The vehicle, driven by one Danladi John, was conveying four passengers and was travelling from Ugbokpo toward Agatu when it was intercepted by the armed men.
The police team immediately engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, forcing the suspects to abandon the victims and flee into nearby bushes.
All five occupants of the vehicle were rescued unhurt and were allowed to continue their journey.
Police said operatives subsequently combed the surrounding bushes in an effort to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The command assured residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects and strengthen security along the road.

Troops Recover IED Along Ngoshe–Pulka Road in Borno

Troops of 81 Division Task Force Battalion, Operation HADIN KAI, have recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Ngoshe–Pulka road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the IED was discovered by troops during operations along the strategic route, which links communities within the Gwoza axis.
The recovery of the device prevented a potential attack against troops, commuters and other road users.
The troops subsequently secured the area and commenced necessary procedures to safely neutralise the explosive device.

Troops Restore Normalcy After Drivers Block Highway, Vandalise Government Property in Plateau

Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have restored normalcy along a highway in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State after angry drivers reportedly blocked the road following a clash with security and quarantine agencies.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 12:00 p.m. on August 11, 2026, when troops responded to a report of a highway blockage involving J5 drivers and personnel of Keystone and quarantine agencies deployed at the Riyom Local Government Secretariat.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops discovered that the aggrieved drivers were vandalising government property in protest over the earlier disagreement.
The troops intervened and successfully brought the situation under control, preventing further destruction of property.
The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was subsequently contacted, leading to the resolution of the dispute.
The affected traffic corridor was cleared and normal vehicular movement restored in the area.
The intervention prevented the situation from escalating and ensured the protection of government infrastructure and public safety.

Farmer arrested after killing Fulani Harder during altercation in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested a 33-year-old man following an altercation between a farmer and a Fulani boy that resulted in the death of the latter in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. on August 11, 2026, in Ninzo South Ward, where troops deployed at Raga General Area responded to a distress report concerning the altercation.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops arrested the suspected assailant, identified as Danjuma Luka, 33.
The circumstances surrounding the altercation and the death of the Fulani boy are being investigated.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is expected to be handed over to Keystone for further necessary action.
Security personnel have maintained presence in the area to prevent possible reprisal attacks and preserve peace between the farming and herding communities.
