Police recover 27 rustled cattle, rescue kidnapped victim in borno

The Nigerian Police force in Borno have recovered 27 rustled cattle and rescued a 20-year-old kidnap victim during a swift operation in Chalu Village, Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area.
Sources in the command told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 18. after a herder, from Kamzuwa Village in Peta Ward, reported to Kwaya Kusar Division that at about 2:30 a.m., he discovered that 27 of his cattle had been rustled and his herdboy, Ahmadu Mallam Buba, aged 20, had been tied up and abducted by unknown hoodlums.
The police swiftly mobilised local vigilantes and pursued the suspects. They intercepted the rustlers at Chalu Village and managed to recover the stolen cattle and rescue the abducted herder.
“One of the suspects, identified as Adamu Musa, male, aged, from Yongom Village, was arrested at the scene while the second suspect escaped,” the sources said. The suspect, cattle, and victim were handed over to Kwaya Kusar Police Division.
The sources confirmed that the rescued victim was taken to General Hospital Kwaya Kusar for medical examination and is now in stable condition.
He said the suspect gave a confessional statement, which was recorded on video, and that efforts were being intensified in collaboration with Fulani community leaders to track down the fleeing accomplice.
