The Niger State Police Command has rescued three Chinese expatriates and a police officer from an angry mob after a hit-and-run incident along the Mokwa/Makera Highway.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that three expatriates Wang Sheng Guo, Zhou Oin Sheng, and Ding Xue Cai were being escorted by policemen on their way to inspect a mining site in Sakaba LGA, Kebbi State.
At Tashan Hajiya Village, the vehicle allegedly knocked down a 15-year-old girl, Fatima Abubakar, and failed to stop. This prompted local motorcycle riders to pursue the SUV towards Manigi Village via Mashegu LGA.
During the chase, the vehicle’s tyre burst, and an irate mob gathered, damaging the SUV.
However, another police team from Mashegu arrived in time to rescue the expatriates and their police escorts unhurt.
The girl has been rushed to the hospital. No confirmation of her health status.
