Police, Vigilantes Foil Kidnapping Attempt in Delta, Recover Ammunition

A joint team of police operatives and local vigilantes in Delta State has rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ammunition after engaging suspected herdsmen in a gun battle.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of March 16, when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogwashi-Uku Division received a distress call that a man identified as Chinonso (surname unknown), a resident of Agidese by Ugbo-Onicha Quarters, had been abducted by armed men.
The security personnel and vigilante groups, swiftly mobilized a team who pursued the kidnappers into the Ugbo-Onicha forest. Sensing the presence of security forces, the assailants opened fire, prompting the operatives to respond with superior firepower.
Overpowered, the kidnappers abandoned their victim and fled into the forest, leaving behind: 60 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, two expended AK-47 cartridges, One Itel phone with two SIM cards and other items.
A search operation is ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while security personnel have intensified security patrols in the area to prevent further incidents.
