Presidential Tribunal Verdict Reinforces Democracy – Buratai
By : Our Reporter
The former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General TY Buratai Rtd, has made a passionate call on Nigerians to join hands with President Bola Tinubu in driving national development.
Buratai who also congratulated Tinubu in a recent press statement, said the call was necessary following the tribunal verdict which validated his victory in the controversial February 25th, polls.
“This ruling not only upholds the principles of justice and fairness but also reinforces the triumph of democracy,” he said.
“As we recognize this momentous event, it is crucial for all Nigerians to actively engage in the democratic process. Each citizen must embrace their civic duty and contribute to the betterment of our nation. Together, we can build a stronger society where the voice of every individual is heard and respected. Let us all unite under the banner of democracy and strive towards a brighter future for our nation,” he added.
He further stated: ” While political affiliations often divide individuals into different parties, it is crucial to recognize that once elected, there can only be one president at a time. Therefore, it is essential for all citizens, regardless of their party affiliations, to unite and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. By setting aside our differences and working together towards a common goal, we can foster a sense of unity and ensure the effective functioning of our government. It is through this collective effort that we can maximize the potentials for positive change and encourage the development of policies that benefit the entire nation.”
“It is essential for us to acknowledge that, despite our varying political affiliations, we all share a common objective – the advancement of our nation. The success of any political party hinges on its ability to serve the interests of the people, uphold democratic principles, and promote unity. Let us concentrate on the matters of utmost importance and engage in productive discussions that will bring about positive transformations.

“Furthermore, every segment of our society plays a crucial role in the peace, development, security, and progress of our country. The states and local government administrations are particularly essential in this endeavour. As the closest level of government to the people, they bear the responsibility of effectively providing essential services, maintaining law and order, and promoting economic growth within their respective jurisdictions. By working in tandem with the Federal Government, states and local governments can address the unique needs and concerns of their communities, fostering a sense of inclusivity and empowerment. Moreover, their involvement in policy-making and implementation allows for a more comprehensive approach to national development, ensuring that every citizen can benefit from the advancements and opportunities that arise. Therefore, the states and local government administrations must carry out their responsibilities efficiently as they form the backbone of our nation’s progress and prosperity.
“It is imperative for Nigerians, especially youth groups and community based organizations (CBOs) to sustain their unwavering support for the administration led by President Bola Tinubu, as he has proven himself to be a reliable and capable leader who is committed to fulfilling his promises. With a track record of accomplishments and a firm understanding of the challenges facing Nigeria, President Tinubu possesses the experience and expertise necessary to deliver the much-needed dividends of good governance. As a tested and trusted leader, he has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the welfare and the progress of the nation.
“Through his visionary leadership and pragmatic approach, President Tinubu has the potential to bring about positive and sustainable changes that will benefit all Nigerians. It is, therefore, crucial for all of us citizens to continue rallying behind his administration, ensuring that he has the necessary support to transform the country and lead it towards a brighter future,” the statement read.

The Economic Community of West African States has rubbished the claim by the Nigerien military junta that Nigeria and some other countries are sponsoring destabilization of Niger, insisting that it was unfounded.
The statement by the regional bloc read: “The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) expresses deep concern over the allegations being made against Nigeria and other ECOWAS member states.
“The Commission stands firmly with Nigeria and other ECOWAS member states against allegations that they are sponsoring terrorism.
“For years, Nigeria has supported peace and security of several countries not only in the West African subregion but also on the African continent. The recent successes recorded by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), which Nigeria leads, demonstrates the country’s commitment to peace and security across the region.
“ECOWAS therefore refutes any suggestion that such a generous and magnanimous country would become a state-sponsor of terrorism.
“ECOWAS calls on all states in the region to promote dialogue and stability and refrain from making accusations that are not supported by any evidence.”
