Protest Erupts in Radda Town Over Dispute with Katsina State Community Watch

A protest broke out in Radda Town, Katsina State, following a dispute between a local resident, Mustapha Ahmed, and members of the Katsina State Community Watch (C-Watch).

Zagazola Makama understands that the incident occurred on April 18, 2025 at approximately 1630hrs when Ahmed, 40, reportedly had a misunderstanding with the community watch members, during which he sustained injuries.

Ahmed was rushed to the General Hospital in Dutsinma for initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina for further care.

However, In response to the incident, a group of aggrieved youth from Radda Town staged a protest on the morning of April 19, demanding action against the activities of the C-Watch in the area.

Security personnel, swiftly moved to the scene to address the protesters. In his address, A Police DPO urged the crowd to remain law-abiding and assured them that their grievances would be handled appropriately.

The Village Head of Radda, Alhaji Kabir Umar Barebari, also intervened, promising to forward the complaints to the relevant authorities for resolution. After the peaceful intervention, the protesters dispersed without further incident.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and investigations into the dispute between Ahmed and the C-Watch members are ongoing.
