Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has tasked the secretary to the state government and other appointed officers to provide strategic leadership, coordinate government businesses, strengthen institutional collaboration, and promote teamwork to enhance good governance and service delivery.
The governor disclosed this today when swearing in the secretary to the state government, Dr. Mohammed Goje; 5 special advisers; 4 permanent secretaries; 2 chairmen of commissions; and the chairman of the Teaching Service Board at the banquet, Government House, Damaturu.
He said his administration is blending experienced and competent hands with young, energetic, and resourceful professionals for our state to be in tune with the changing times of the digital world.
According to Buni, since the appointment of Dr. Goje as acting secretary to the state government on 29th April 2026, he has executed his duties with a high sense of responsibility, commitment, speed, and loyalty.
“This administration has recruited 9,230 teachers to boost manpower in the schools across the state and over 14,000 health workers to provide adequate services in our health institutions,” Governor Buni said.
He maintained that his administration, as a matter of deliberate strategy, appointed several youths as chief executive officers of government agencies to provide them with the opportunity to participate in governance and cultivate a crop of young leaders.
Governor Buni charged them to use this rare opportunity with increased vigor, justly, transparently, and honestly for the betterment of the state and its people.
“You should place our collective interests over and above personal interests, it is said, and good names are better than gold and riches.” The governor added.
The governor called on commissioners, permanent secretaries, heads of government agencies, local government chairmen, and the entire public service to extend their support and cooperation to the secretary of the state government.
He appreciates the immediate past secretary to the state government and now our governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali Mni, for his dedication, sacrifice, and invaluable contributions to the success of this administration and development of the state.
Governor Buni commended His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the federal government’s continued support of our state through strategic intervention and partnership to complement our development efforts.
