Ramadan: Dr. Tunis urges Muslim on Self-reflection

Right Honourable Speaker of the Ecowas parliament, Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis has urged Muslims to take a self-reflection and ensure that they do not reduce this month to a holiday of rituals and lavish iftars but rather, a month that will lead them to take sincere steps towards change, transformation and redemption.
Speaking on Saturday, Dr. Sidie said “with the sighting of the new moon ushering in this Holy Month of Ramadan, I pray that we shall be the recipients of the Blessings and Mercy it brings. This is the month of self-reflection, self-restraint, self-rejuvenation and a month of devotion to Allah.”

He said, Fasting in the holy month of Ramadan involves self-denial of food and drink during the day.
“We should therefore be reminded of those who are less privilege than us and unable to feed themselves. Consequently, we must appreciate the gifts bestowed upon us and recognize the need to share those gifts.
“I implore you take some time and pray for progress and stability in the region. We have undergone many trials over recent times and are in need of guidance and compassion. “ He added
Dr. Sidie also reflected that, the challenges we have faced are a testament to the need for increased connectivity and cooperation between our nations.
He said, “Allah has promised that with hardship comes ease, so let us continue to work together to lighten that burden, soothe the pain and mend our relationships.
“May this Ramadan enlighten you and clear your understanding and judgement between the rights and wrongs, as well as the truths and false.
“As we welcome this month, may it be a harbinger of peace and harmony in our sub region. May our efforts and sacrifices be pure and accepted and our desires for prosperity and progress be granted.”
