Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has said that ending abuse is a collective responsibility, emphasizing that every individual has the right to safety and freedom from abuse during the flag-off of the 2024 Enugu August Meeting.
Speaking on the theme “Eliminating Abuse to Foster a Healthy Society,” she urged women to unite against abuse and promote empathy and compassion.
Represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, Senator Tinubu highlighted the efforts of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in improving lives, including ICT training for women.

Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, wife of Enugu State Governor, emphasized the significance of the August Meeting as a platform for women’s empowerment, advocacy, and community development.
The event, attended by 3,000 women from diverse backgrounds, aimed to address community challenges and end abuse. Stakeholders agreed that individual actions are crucial in discouraging abuse.
The RHI, chaired by Senator Tinubu, introduced the Alternative Girl Child School to combat abuse and provide education for marginalized females.
The event featured cultural displays, parades, empowerment package distribution, and exhibitions revealing the commitment, determination, and resilience of the women.
