REUNION: FGC Old Boys’ Alumni Association Set to Stage 50th Anniversary Congress in Maiduguri

The Federal Government College (FGC) Maiduguri Old Students Association popularly known as Alumni has disclosed plans to celebrate her 50th anniversary starting from the 18th to 21st of this month.
The anniversary which is scheduled to take place at the premises Federal Government College Maiduguri will have in attendance of diginitsirs who have passed through the school about fifty years ago.
The members of the alumni association comprises of governors, ministers and old students from within and outside the country to celebrate achievements in the unity school, discuss areas that needs Improvement, celebrate major landmarks in the state and offer opportunity for reunion while showcasing the foundation upon which the county’s unity was built
The President of the Alumni association, Suleiman Muhammed, who disclosed this during a telephone interview with newsmen said that the anniversary will serve as a message to the world that Maiduguri is back as a center of education.
Suleiman recounted some projects which the association have executed in Federal Government College, Maiduguri through the state and individuals, part of which includes donation of vocational equipment by one its member, facilitation of e-libary, Ongoing Installation of Solar electricity in the dining hall, music equipment and construction of sport complex with modern sporting equipments.
On his part, a former minister of Information, Mr Frank Nweke who is also an alumnus of the school expressed optism on the success of the anniversary celebration and also noted that it will be a platform to showcase great people that the school has trained over time.
The former minister said that highlights of the event will include commissioning of projects, interaction with the children and many others.

Ifelodun LG imposes 24 hour curfew across Oro-Ago District for clearance operation

A 24 hour curfew has been imposed on the entire Oro- ago District of Ifelodun council Area, Chairman Abdulrasheed Yusuf said in a statement recently.
The curfew which took effect from 6 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, was imposed in a coordinated effort by the council in conjunction with security agencies to put terrorists in disarray, take them out by combing the area and protecting lives and property of residents.
The statement signed by Abdulquadri Jimba who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Ifelodun council area noted that “Within this period, there will be no human or vehicular traffic in the entire district.
“This is in support of the ongoing security clearance operation in the area. Further reviews of this measure will be communicated,” the statement noted.

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived a while ago in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, for the commissioning ceremony of key projects under the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC).

The event is being attended by the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani; the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe; and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia. Also present are members of the National Assembly, state legislators, members of the Kaduna State Executive Council, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
