A border patrol team has recovered a rifle, ammunition, illicit drugs and a motorcycle abandoned by a fleeing suspect near Daddara Village in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when operatives sighted a man riding a red Royal motorcycle with a sack on board around Yan Hireji, a Fulani settlement.
According to sources, the suspect attempted to evade questioning by speeding off, but later abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot into a nearby forest.
An examination of the sack revealed an AK-47 rifle with one magazine containing two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, along with 825 tablets suspected to be tramadol.
The recovered items have been secured, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
