His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr) Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, the Sarkin Sasa and Chairman of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 Southern States of Nigeria, has passed away at the age of 107.

The revered monarch, who was also the Sardauna Yamma, died on Saturday at Cure Hospital, Moniya, Oyo State, after a brief illness.

A family member confirmed the news, stating that arrangements have been made for his burial.

According to Islamic rites, his funeral will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 1400 hours.

Until his passing, Sarkin Sasa played a significant role in fostering unity among the Arewa community across Southern Nigeria, serving as a pillar of tradition, leadership, and peace.

His demise marks the end of an era for the Arewa Traditional Council, and condolences have started pouring in from dignitaries and community leaders across the country.
