Security Forces Repel Bandit Attack in Katsina, Two Killed, One Kidnapped

The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in Katsina State have repelled an attack by armed bandits on Tafoki Village in Faskari Local Government Area, the police have confirmed.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred on Feb. 25 at about 7:00 p.m. when bandits, riding on approximately 100 motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village, firing sporadically.
The troops engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle. Overpowered by superior firepower, the bandits retreated into a nearby forest.
Despite the successful repulsion, two villagers Yakubu Mai Inji, 45, and Ahmed Yahaya, 25 were shot and killed. Three others sustained injuries and were rushed to General Hospital, Funtua, for treatment.
One person was abducted by the fleeing bandits.
Security forces have since fortified the area with an to prevent further incursions, while efforts are ongoing to track down the attackers and rescue the kidnapped victim.
