Security forces rescue three kidnapped children, arrest suspects in Kaduna

Security forces in Kaduna have rescued three kidnapped children and arrested three suspects in connection with the crime in Kurmin Mashi area of Kaduna.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest followed a complaint lodged on Aug. 25 by relatives of the victims that his three children had been abducted and the perpetrators demanded N50 million ransom.

The victims were identified as Aslam Umar Lukman, 14, Suleiman Umar Tanko, 12, and Aliyu Umar Tanko, 10.

It was gathered police operatives acted on intelligence and arrested one Richard Philip, 19, of Calabar Road, Sabon Layi, on Aug. 26.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that he conspired with two others, identified as Ibrahim Ma’aruf, 18, and Abubakar Sadiq, 15, both residents of Kurmin Mashi, to kidnap the children.

“The children were rescued unhurt from Philip’s residence where they were being kept,” the statement said.

It added that all three suspects were arrested and had provided useful information to the police.

Security sources noted that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
