Senator Lawan condoles the Maimalari family in Yobe

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, Ph.D., GCON, Sardaunan Bade. Yobe North Senatorial District. President of the 9th Senate was in Yusufari local government area, one of the six local government areas in Yobe North Senatorial District, to condole with the family of Alhaji Zakariya Maimalari, who died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Before proceeding to the family of the deceased, the President of the 9th Senate paid a visit first to the Emir of Yusufari, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Zakariya, to pay his respects and to receive his blessings.

Thereafter, Senator Ahmed Lawan went to Maimalari village in Yusufari local government area to condole with the family of the deceased, who was buried on Thursday, May 2, 2024, according to Islamic rites.

The late Alhaji Maimalari started his political career as a councilor and represented his Maimalari ward in the old Nguru local government council under the leadership of Alhaji Jinjiri Abubakar.

Following the creation of Machina/Yusufari local government area in 1989 by the then military regime of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd), the late Maimalari was elected as the first chairman under the National Republican Convention (NRC) political party.

Barely less than two years into office, occassioned by the subsequent split of Machina and Yusufari into two separate local government areas, Alhaji Maimalari re-contested and again defeated his political opponent from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to be re-elected as the first chairman of Yusufari local government council in 1991.

During the visit of the President of the 9th Senate to the family of the deceased, he offered his sympathies for the death of their beloved patriarch.

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan also offered prayers for the repose of his soul and asked Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatur Firdaus.
