The spokesman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples (SOKAPU), Luka Binniyat who is also a journalist working with The Epoch, an international newspaper, has been arrested for allegedly reporting a fictitious story on the killings of people in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna state.

Luka was arrested by the security operatives in Kaduna to answer questions regarding the purported story alleging that the Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai is using his Commissioner for Security Affairs, Samuel Aruwan to protect the genocide of Southern Kaduna people.

Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Security Affairs in the state at a press briefing in Kaduna said he felt insecure and threatened as the report can cause mayhem that can engulf the state.

The Commissioner said he deemed it fit to brief the journalists why Luka Binniyat was arrested and to clear the air on sabotage and wrong perception for arresting Luka Binniyat to protect his personality and integrity.

Luka Binniyat report quoted Senator Danjuma Laah saying that, “the government of Kaduna state is using Samuel Aruwan, a Christian, to cause confusion to cover up the genocide going on in Christian Southern Kaduna by describing the massacre as a ‘clash,’” the report said.

Senator Danjuma Laah has debunked the statement.

Samuel Aruwan called on journalists to always adhere to the ethics and conditions of their works for Professionalism as a simple slide of the tongue can cause a big havoc.
