Suspected fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have attacked a nomadic Fulani settlement near Tolmari Village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, injuring two residents.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred around 2 a.m. on Thursday.
The terrorists, who were on foot, stormed the settlement and opened fire indiscriminately on residents.
“One Ali Mai, a 50-year-old resident of Tolmari Village, sustained a severe head injury, while his 28-year-old son, Ali Mai Abba, was shot in the shoulder,” the source said.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai Swiftly mobilized to the scene, but the insurgents had already fled into the forest.
The victims were taken to the General Hospital in Damboa for medical treatment, while the military intensified onslaught within the general area.
