Thai Lady Arrested with Boxes of Illicit Drug at Lagos Airport

Attempt by a 24-year-old Thai lady, Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat, to smuggle 43 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 46.6 kilogrammes into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos has been thwarted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

She was arrested after the illicit consignment was discovered in her boxes.

According to a statement on Sunday by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi, the suspect who confessed to being a hired drug trafficker was arrested last Thursday during the inward clearance of passengers on Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha, Qatar at the arrival hall, Terminal 2 of the Lagos airport.

She was said to have stated that the drug cartel, which recruited her promised to pay her $3,000 upon successful delivery of the illicit drug consignment in Nigeria.

Babafemi said another bid by a drug trafficking syndicate to ship 68 parcels of Ghanaian Loud with a total weight of 42.2 kilogrammes concealed in walls of crated cartons to London, UK, through the export shed of the Lagos airport was also frustrated by NDLEA officers last Friday with three suspects: a freight agent and two dispatch riders, initially arrested in connection with the seizure before the mastermind of the shipment, Samuel Bitris, was swiftly traced to his Exodus Estate, Ajah, Lagos home where he was arrested.

At the Port Harcourt Port Complex, Onne, Rivers state, NDLEA officers last Thursday intercepted 49 cartons containing 49,000 pills of tamol, a brand of tramadol 225mg in a 40 feet container during a joint examination of the shipment with men of Customs Service and other security agencies.

In Nasarawa state, NDLEA operatives on Saturday arrested two suspects: Bello Adamu, 40, and Pius Azuka, 42 at Kokona/Keffi with 517 kilogrammes of skunk, while two other suspects: Usman Ruwa, 43, and Yunusa Haruna, 45, were nabbed in a Toyota Corolla car conveying 62.7 kilogrammes of skunk along Sabon Asibiti road Kontagora, Niger state last Thursday.

He said with the same vigour, commands and formations of the agency across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities to schools, worship centres, work places and communities among others in the past week.

Meanwhile, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) while commending the officers and men of MMIA, PHPC, Niger, and Nasarawa commands of the agency for the arrests and seizures, stated that their operational successes and those of their compatriots across the country especially their balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts are well appreciated.

Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber in Nasarawa, Hunt for Accomplices

The Scorpion Squad of the Nigeria Police has arrested a notorious armed robber linked to multiple home invasions and violent robberies across several states.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, Auwal Ibrahim Sani, 30, from Makarfi Rigasa, Kaduna State, was apprehended at Mararaba Garage, Nasarawa State, on March 26 at about 6:00 a.m., following actionable intelligence.

It was gathered that Sani and his gang terrorized victims using assault rifles and other dangerous weapons. One of their most heinous crimes occurred on October 15, 2024, when they invaded House No. 482, Ken Nnamani Street, Wuye, Abuja, at about 3:30 a.m., robbing: Mrs. Helen Ogbolu and Mr. Ojo Otobo, carting away: Two cars: A silver-colored 2017 Honda Accord (ABC 481 KH) and a maroon-colored Honda Accord (YAB 166 GB) Gold jewelry, laptops, and phones

The silver Honda Accord was earlier recovered, and three suspects were arrested, but the maroon Honda Accord remains missing.

During interrogation, Sani confessed that his gang comprised seven members armed with two AK-47 rifles and pistols. He identified his accomplices as Ibrahim, Ismail, Sadiq, Jabire, and Bala, who are still at large.

Efforts are in top gear to track down the fleeing suspects and recover their weapons, while the police continue their investigation.

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered a cache of ammunition in Kabwir Community, Kanke Local Government Area.

According to a police sources, the arrest was made following credible intelligence that the suspect was lodging in a hotel. Acting on the information, a team of police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kanke raided the hotel and apprehended 25-year-old Auwal Haruna, an indigene of Kaduna State.

A search of the suspect’s belongings led to the recovery of:51 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition,14 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, One AA ammunition, One AK-47 empty magazine and Assorted charms

Tragic Dispute: Man Killed in Mango Farm Fight in Benishiekh

A dispute between two brothers over mango harvesting in Benishiekh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, has resulted in the death of one and the hospitalization of the other.

Sources said that the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 9:00 AM when Kajdi Kachalla, 40, and his younger brother, Baba Goni Kachalla, 28, engaged in a physical altercation at their mango plantation in Ajari Area, Benishiekh.

During the fight, both men inflicted serious head and mouth injuries on each other using wooden sticks. Police operatives responded swiftly and evacuated them to the General Hospital in Benishiekh.

However, Kajdi Kachalla was pronounced dead, while Baba Goni remains under medical care.

The deceased’s body was later released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.
