THE NEED TO LOOK AT THINGS DIFFERENTLY FOR A CHANGE
THE NEED TO LOOK AT THINGS DIFFERENTLY FOR A CHANGE
By: Balami Lazarus
I have learnt over the years to question the acceptance of popular thinking and ways of doing things. Unlike what most people have come to accept whatever they are told and ways of doing things, invariably living and doing things without thinking for a change. And by doing so, one is living a life with no difference or change in attitude. While for others acceptance without questioning or thinking has become a bloodline.
It has also come to my knowledge and understanding that people who are refusing to questioning popular thinking and ways of doing somethings will never discover their ability of creative thinking or improve on their life styles but instead such persos swallows the sinker with hook line and bait aborting their capacity of thinking for a change.

As an individual, I have always liked to be different in the manner of doing things and equally questioned the acceptance of popular thinking. However, this singular act has made some people dislike and not wanting anything to do with me but I have always maintained my cool and stood my ground firmly. My good cousin Simon has the same mind set, always looking at things differently in an attempt to find new ways.
Some people do things and think like others for fear of rejection and wanting to belong and flow with is in vogue, doing the bidding of others. Unknowingly to the detriment of their personality and character because they will never have a mind of their own to rediscover themselves and be identified or known for a particular thing or lifestyle. My family and friends have come to know and identified with me by my style of dressing and other things.
I am also one person that asks a lot of questions when dealing or transacting with people, this has expanded my thinking ability to see things from different perspectives.
The speech of His Royal Majesty Okuku Uma Umoh Adiaka 3rd, paramount ruler of Obot Akara who is currently the Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University Yola that was delivered on the 23rd October 2021, during the University convocation ceremony was entirely a radical change of the way and manner speeches are written. The Chancellor’s speech was very brief, concise, outlined and numbered with clarity of message. Infact, the speech was in a class and style of its own. The speech has questioned the popular way of writing speech.
Finally, the questioning of acceptance of popular thinking and doing things will liberate and delaborate your mind from impoverished ways of thinking , doing things and some beliefs.
