Three Boko Haram fighters with family surrender to Nigerian troops

At Least three Boko Haram fighters with their families, surrendered to the troops of Operation Hadin Kai in thw North East of Borno State.

It was gathered that the militants identified as Umar Ibn Khatab, Ibn Salih and Abdulrahman with their wives and children surrendered to the troops of 21 armored Brigade Bama in the early hours of May 29, 2024.

Zagazola Makama understand that they surrendered after fleeing from the terrorists enclave in Njimia following intensified operations by the troops of Operation Desert Sanity III within the Sambisa Forest.

They surrendered with 2Ak 47 riffle containing 10 X 7.62mm X 39mm special ammunition, one bicycle and a mobile phone.

The terrorists and their family are currently in the military custody for profiling.

Zulum Condemns Recent Boko Haram/ISWAP Incidents, Sympathises with Victims of Attacks

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the recent spate of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP in various parts of the state, including Maiduguri-Damboa Road, Marte, Chibok, Gwoza, Kala Balge, and other affected communities.

Governor Zulum expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the families of all victims affected by the tragic incidents, which included an improvised explosive device (IED) attack along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road.

The explosion, which occurred on 12 May, claimed the lives of two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority who were en route to Maiduguri to sit for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examination. Several members of the armed forces and innocent civilians have also lost their lives in the recent wave of violence.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mr Dauda Iliya, the Governor reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to working closely with the Federal Government, military, and other security agencies to contain the security challenges.

“These acts of terror are deeply condemnable. The recent tragic loss of our education staff, gallant troops, and innocent civilians is a painful reminder of the challenges we continue to face,” Governor Zulum stated.

He added: “I am more determined than ever to support the military, security agencies, and our volunteer forces in the fight to end terrorism and insurgency in our state.”

Governor Zulum recalled his recent visit to Gwoza, where he engaged with military personnel and the Izge community, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce resilience and ensure the protection of lives and property.

“The recent surge in attacks will not deter our resolve to tackle the scourge of the 16-year-long insurgency. I urge the people of Borno to remain resilient and prayerful. This is a partial eclipse — and we shall overcome it, Insha Allah,” the Governor assured.

Governor Zulum concluded by extending his thoughts and prayers to the families of the fallen heroes, innocent civilians, and all citizens of Borno State during this difficult period.

Army troops ISWAP Attack Repelled in Gajiram

Troops of the Nigerian military, late Monday night, repelled an attempted attack by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Gajiram, headquarters of Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno.

Zagazola Makama gathered from security sources that the insurgents launched the attack at about 2200 hours but met stiff resistance from troops stationed in the area.

According to the sources, ISWAP fighters were unable to gain access into Gajiram town as they were engaged in a gun duel by security forces, leading to the foiling of the assault.

However, the attackers reportedly fired projectiles during the encounter, one of which landed in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp within the vicinity, triggering an inferno.

ISWAP attacked Marte, two soldiers killed during battle with terrorists

Atleast two Nigerian soldiers have paid the supreme price during gun battle with ISWAP terrorists in Marte town in Borno State on Monday.

Intelligence sources said that the terrorists reportedly infiltrated the town at about 2 a.m.. they were engaged by troops of the battalion stationed in Marte, with reinforcement from the Brigade Headquarters and close air support from the Nigerian Air Force.

The coordinated counteroffensive forced the terrorists to retreat, abandoning their plans to overrun the town. two soldiers were killed in the firefight.

The attackers reportedly fled with some motorcycles and two vehicles. A number of unserviceable military vehicles, classified as beyond economic repair, were also set ablaze by the insurgents during the raid.

“There is no report of any arms or ammunition being taken by the enemy,” a military officer confirmed.

As of the time of filing this report, the Brigade Commander was on ground in Marte to assess the situation.
