Troops arrest ISWAP informant in Borno

The Troops of Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI and the Multi National Joint Task Force(MNJTF) have arrested a terrorist informant, AJI DALA, 45 year-old in Monguno Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested by the troops 242 Battalion in conjunction with Intelligence Operatives at CHARAMARI area of the town on Nov. 14, 2023.
He was arrested in connection with a Threat Letter purported to be from ISWAP terrorists on their plan to attack Monguno town on November 17, 2023.
The latter, signed by one Amir Hallat Muhammed reads; people of Monguno should be prepared. We (ISWAP) are coming to attack you on Wednesday.
Zagazola understands that the purported latter had caused panic among residents of Monguno town even as it was later discovered that it was purported by the ISWAP element to cause panic.
A competent military source who dispelled the apprehensions, said the military were ever ready to deal with any threat.
“They have tried before and failed woefully, Let them try it, Monguno is their burial ground. They themselves know it,”said the sources.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has apprehended Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky while trying to cross the border into Republic of Benin.
The Service in a statement on Monday signed by its Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo said: “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to Exit the Country.”
Udo added that: “The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders.”

Yobe state police command has arrested Hamsatu Modu, 54, of Morami village, Jakana, Konduga local government area of Borno state, for trafficking ammunition from Buni Yadi to Damaturu, the state capital.
“On October 20, 2024, ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received credible intelligence regarding a suspected gunrunner en route to Damaturu.
“Swift action led to the interception of a Golf 3 saloon car, and a thorough search revealed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 mm ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage.
The suspect is currently undergoing professional interrogation as investigators work to unravel the criminal network and motives behind trafficking.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, reaffirms the command’s commitment to combating crime and urges community members to sustain their cooperation with security agencies.
He advised the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, persons, or objects to the nearest police station or security formation.

Operatives of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested five suspects and impounded about 20,000 litres of crude oil siphoned from already vandalized pipeline along Umielechi/izam community in Abia State.
A statement on Monday by the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Afolabi Babawale said the feat was achieved by the Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad while acting on the directive of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi who declared zero tolerance for vandalism and crude oil theft while decorating the CG SIS Commander with his new rank recently, charging him that “to who much is given a lot is expected.”
Babawale said the Commander of the CG Special Intelligence Squad; Commandant Appolos Dandaura had hinted that his men arrested five suspects and impounded about 20,000 litres of crude oil which was earlier siphoned from already vandalized pipeline along Umielechi/Izam community in Abia State.
He said Appolos narrated that the CG SIS acted based on credible intelligence and chased the suspects who almost escaped using their motorcycles in Obuzor Asa axis, Ukwa West local government area of Abia State.
The Commandant said: “We proceeded acting on the Intelligence at our disposal and in a midnight raid we arrested the five suspects with stolen crude oil carefully packed in cellophane bags”
He disclosed that those suspects who were caught red handed are : Danniel Augustine, 20 years; Moses Friday, 23 years; Igboshe Musua, 42 years; Sadiq Yunusa, 28 years m; and Dozie Ugo, 33 years; while items recovered as exhibits are about 20,000 litres of already siphoned crude oil, two Dalong Super Wolf Motorcycles, Qlink 150-ES Electric start Motorcycle and a Nasara Super D-S 150 Motorcycle.
Appolos, while reaffirming his commitment to the directive of the CG, said the Corps is resolved to keep fighting vandals and oil thieves relentlessly as the Corps is poised to protect all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the nation.
