Troops of the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have apprehended two notorious kidnappers and recovered arms during a raid on a criminal hideout in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the military operation, conducted on March 15 at about 8:30 p.m., targeted a kidnappers’ hideout at Katume High Grounds, following credible intelligence that abducted victims were often kept there while ransom negotiations took place.
The sources said that the operation led to the arrest of two suspected kidnap kingpins identified as Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad. One AK-47 rifle and a magazine were recovered from the criminals.
“The arrested suspects are currently in custody, providing useful confessions to aid follow-up operations aimed at apprehending their accomplices and recovering more weapons,” said the source.
Operation SAFE HAVEN has been conducting Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, a security initiative aimed at tackling criminal activities in Plateau and neighboring states.
