Security sources disclosed that the troops, deployed for counter-terrorism operations, acted on credible intelligence indicating the movement of terrorists towards Kwanar Jollof in Jangeru Village, Shinkafi area.

The sources said the troops tactically positioned themselves along the route and laid an ambush for the terrorists.
“Upon sighting the terrorists, the troops engaged them with a heavy volume of fire, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee into the surrounding area,” the sources said.
Items recovered from the scene included one PKT assault weapon, a cache of ammunition, two motorcycles, chains believed to have been intended for abducted victims, and eight pairs of military uniforms.
