After a violent shooting, about thirty (30) terrorists were neutralized and after the confrontation, a total of 15 AK 47 rifles, 2 belts of 222 ammunition and 179 cartridges, 2 mobile phones and 1 BHT flag were recovered in an ongoing operation in the Lake Chad region in northeast Nigeria.

In addition, the troops managed to apprehend eleven (11) suspects, including three (3) minors, who are currently being questioned.

A statement from Colonel Muhammad Dolé, Chief of Military Public Information FMM HQ N’Djamena Chad on Wednesday said that FMM troops from Sector 4 (Republic of Niger) continue to dominate their area of operation with aggressive sweeping operations towards the hiding places of identified terrorists.

The statement said during a recent encounter in the general area of Kaji Jiwa, they came into contact with some Boko Haram Terrorists (TBH) where victory on their side left over 30 terrorists’ dead.

“In another separate encounter, some TBH/ISWAP attempted to infiltrate a defended Sector 4 (Republic of Niger) position near Doutchi, but were quickly repelled by a well-coordinated action between the Air Task Force and ground troops.

“At the end of the confrontation, three armed vehicles were destroyed and another was recovered, while several insurgents were neutralized.

“Unfortunately, one soldier made the ultimate sacrifice and six other wounded are currently being treated at a military facility. It is obvious that the ongoing offensive actions have considerably reduced the terrorists’ freedom of movement and action.” The statement said.

The statement further said that troops of Taskforce Arege, composed of Nigerian and Nigerian troops continued their search operations to effectively dominate the general area of Fedondiya and the vicinity of Arege.

“As they advanced, there was no contact or resistance, as TBH elements continued to abandon their enclaves and makeshift hamlets and flee.

“Nevertheless, whenever the troops encountered makeshift shelters concealed under trees, suspected to be enemy outposts, the makeshift houses were carefully destroyed and immediately set on fire before the troops continued their advance.” The statement added.
