Troops captured suspected bandit dressed in military combat camouflage, recover arms in Kaduna, Plateau

Troops of 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have arrested a suspected bandit and recovered arms and ammunition in separate operations in Kaduna and Plateau states.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that on June 15, troops intercepted a suspected armed bandit at Katsit community in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The suspect, dressed in military combat camouflage, was allegedly impersonating soldiers in order to rob unsuspecting members of the community.

Recovered from him were an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, 3 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammo, 7 empty cases of 7.62mm (Special) ammo, a fake vigilante identity card, a mobile phone and two ATM cards. The suspect is currently in custody for further action.

The sources added that in another operation, in the early hours of June 16, troops raided a suspected gunrunning syndicate’s hideout at Kwanar Lauje in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects fled before troops arrived, but a search of the area resulted in the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, an AK-47 rifle butt, 300 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammo, a 9mm round and two 12.7mm rounds. An abandoned motorcycle was also recovered during the operation.

Recovered items are currently in custody, while follow-up operations are ongoing to arrest the suspects.

Troops Intercept Suspect with Firearm, Cash in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Forest Yakin (OPFY) have apprehended a suspected criminal in possession of a locally fabricated firearm and other items at a checkpoint in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources said the arrest occurred at about 12:00 p.m. on April 26 at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sabon Birni, where troops were conducting routine stop-and-search operations.

The suspect, who was intercepted while passing through the checkpoint, was found with a locally made pistol, a cutlass, one mobile phone, and a sum of N154,800.

The sources added that the suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

They reaffirmed that troops remain vigilant and committed to ongoing efforts aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing security across the area.

Troops recover additional weapon, ammunition after Kukareta attack in Yobe

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered additional arms and ammunition during follow-up clearance operations after a recent terrorist attack on Kukareta in Yobe State.

Security sources said the troops conducted a sweep of the general area of contact at about 8:00 a.m. as part of ongoing exploitation operations aimed at tracking fleeing insurgents.

During the search, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle with registration number 178910, one magazine and five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, believed to have been abandoned by the terrorists while escaping from the scene.

The sources said the recovered items had been secured, adding that no further enemy contact was made during the operation.

They added that troops would continue follow-up exploitation operations in the area, noting that the general security situation remains fluid but under control, with troops maintaining high morale and operational effectiveness.

Troops foil kidnap attempt, rescue victim in Kaduna

Troops of 1 Division Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a civilian in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources told Zagazola that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 26 at about 3:00 a.m., when troops on night patrol at Sanga responded to reports of sporadic gunshots along Ungwan Mohammadu village road.

The sources said the troops swiftly moved to the scene and made contact with suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a firefight that forced the criminals to flee.

According to the sources, one civilian who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident was rescued by the troops.

The victim was immediately evacuated to Confidence Hospital in Fadan Karshi for medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.

The sources added that troops have intensified patrols and are conducting follow-up operations to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.
