Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have destroyed several terrorist enclaves and recovered arms during an offensive operation under Operation Desert Sanity V in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno.
Sources told Zagazola that the operation was conducted at about 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 30.
According to the sources, combined troops of 21 Special Armoured Brigade and 26 Task Force Brigade, in conjunction with volunteer forces, advanced from the Harbour area to multiple identified objectives within the forest.
The objectives included Ukuba axis, a terrorist camp behind Ukuba, Parisu, Somalia Camp and Njimiya areas.
The sources said all the targeted enclaves were active, but the terrorists fled before the arrival of troops, possibly due to earlier strikes conducted within the general area.
The sources added that the troops destroyed several life-support structures belonging to the terrorists during the operation.
The sources said that one 81mm mortar base plate and one hand grenade were recovered during exploitation of the area.
The sources further noted that troops observed the impact of previous strikes conducted on the terrorist camp behind Ukuba.
