Troops eliminates 3 ISWAP terrorists enforcing lavies, recover 2 rifles, grenade

The troops of Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai on Sunday eliminated three ISWAP terrorists enforcing Zakkat Levies on Maltari Village near Kukareta in Borno State.

Intelligence sources, reliably informed Zagazola Makama, that the terrorists met their Waterloo during a gunfight with the troops.

The sources said that the following report was received at about 4am on Sunday February 18, 2024, about terrorist elements sighted at Maltari Village near Kukareta where they were reported to be enforcing collection of Zakat Levies from community members.

He said that a fighting patrol from Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, deployed at Forward Operating Base Kukareta in Conjunction with Yobe state Hunters group, were tasked to conduct a special Patrol to the area.

The team made Contact with elements of the terrorists near Lawanti village where the troops engaged and naturalized three terrorists.

The patrol also recovered two Ak47 rifles with two magazines containing 16 rounds of 7.62MM special, two hand grenades and one motorcycle.

The nutrialised terrorists are believed to be part of the group that attacked troops camp at Kukareta on Sunday 4th February 2024.

The troops of Sector 2 have intensified fighting operations to deny the terrorists any freedom of action within the AOR.

Troops, police arrest nine suspected kidnappers in Edo raid operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local security stakeholders, have arrested nine suspected kidnappers during a raid operation in Edo State.

Sources said the operation was conducted at about 0200 hours on May 5 by troops of 4 Brigade deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Udomi, in conjunction with police operatives, Edo State Security Corps, hunters and vigilantes.

The joint team, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Ukpaja general area in Ubiaja, Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

During the operation, nine suspected kidnappers were apprehended without resistance.

The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Command in Uromi for further investigation and prosecution.

Security authorities said the raid formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance safety across communities in Edo State.

They reaffirmed commitment to sustained joint operations aimed at curbing kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region.

Troops recover bodies of two civilians in Platea

Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, have recovered the bodies of two civilians killed in Gyambwas area near Kikyua village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Sources said the incident occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on May 5.

According to the source, troops deployed at Gyambwas responded to a distress call regarding the killing of two locals within the fringes of Kikyua village.

He said no contact was made with the attackers as they had fled the scene before the arrival of the troops.

“Troops recovered the corpses and subsequently handed them over to the village youth leader for further necessary action,” the source said.

The source added that security patrols had been intensified in the area to prevent further attacks and restore calm.

He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to track down those responsible for the killings.

Troops neutralise two terrorists, recover arms in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State.

Security sources said the operation was conducted by troops of 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force (QRF) from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bagega in the early hours of May 4.

The troops, while on patrol, advanced through Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, extending operations to Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area.

During the operation, the troops made contact with suspected terrorists at Tungar Magaji village, where a firefight ensued.

“In the course of the engagement, two terrorists were neutralised, while others fled with possible gunshot wounds,” the source said.

Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle.

The troops are currently exploiting the general area to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further threats in the region.
