Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have successfully recovered arms and ammunition following an ambush operation against armed bandits in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The ambush followed credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of bandits armed with AK-47 rifles and mounted on motorcycles along the Kampani-Kombodoro road. The sighting occurred at about 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24.

In a swift response, troops laid an ambush along the suspected route of the bandits near the Jeb Jeb community. The ambush was sprung at approximately 7:30 a.m., forcing the bandits to flee the area with gunshot wounds, as evidenced by blood trails along their withdrawal route.

A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle bearing serial number 563635618, two AK-47 magazines, and five rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.

Military authorities confirmed that the recovered items are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing criminals.
